How to Prepare for a Video Deposition

Practical preparation for a video deposition — the room, the participants, the exhibits, and the coordination that keeps the record clean.

How to Prepare for a Video Deposition

Prepare the room

Choose a quiet room with controlled lighting and minimal background noise. Avoid spaces with loud HVAC, ringing phones, or foot traffic behind the witness.

Prepare the participants

Make sure the witness understands the process. Confirm that everyone who will speak is positioned to be seen and heard clearly, and that the court reporter and videographer have what they need.

Prepare the exhibits

Organize exhibits in advance and agree on how they will be shown on camera. A smooth exhibit flow keeps the record clean and the deposition efficient.
